UPDATE: Photos from last night’s event above.
Tonight, Tues Feb 24th, we kick-off the Silicon Valley branch of TechAviv with our first meetup at Stanford Univ, sponsored by Pinnacle Awards & Promotions. I’m starting to feel like Tyler Durden from Fight Club boarding all these flights to hang with local TechAviv clubs. Or maybe that’s just my subconsciousness pining for random fights to break out at our events. We’ve got an impressive lineup of fighters, I mean founders presenting their startups tonight. Here’s a short blurb about each:
Gigya is perhaps the most viral Israeli startup in history, and yes, that includes ICQ. Gigya’s widgets and widget distribution network already reaches more than 174 Million users globally and helps widget developers and advertisers reach millions of targeted, engaged users. Publishers get a monetization boost simply by embedding their widgets which range from the silly-addictive to the business critical. If you see a “share” or “embed” button on a widget chances are its being powered by Gigya. Founder and President Rooly Eliezerov will school us on the viral magic.
HearGear Media is a network of websites targeting car-buying audiences by vehicle and lifestyle. The company’s charismatic founder and CEO, Hesky Kutscher sold his last startup ShopLocal before buying TheCarConnection.com to kick-off his mega car site network. Co-founder and CTO Ido Green, former GM at FareChase and senior engineer at Yahoo’s famed Brickhouse joins Hesky for the live demo of the HighGear platform.
Metacafe is known by most as the formidable runner-up to YouTube but that’s old news. Founder and CCO Eyal Hertzog will update us and demo the latest developments at the mega viral video web site which ranks among the most visited sites on the web. A special thanks to Eyal for stepping in at the last moment to replace Shahar from Nuconomy who won’t be able to make it tonight. We’ll see him present next month.
TechAviv CA is an invite-only group of Israeli hi-tech startup founders, executives and investors that meet monthly to showcase, discuss and help fellow Israeli startups. As of this post there are 80 members in the group. Membership application here – http://ca.techaviv.com.
