New York takes the stage this Weds, March 25h at 6:30pm as three promising young Israeli startups demo in front of nearly 200 TechAviv NY members. Our own Aaron Cohen, the new CEO of PopTok will be in the TechAviv Hot Seat giving an insightful and entertaining talk on what its like for an American CEO taking over an Israeli startup. We’ll of course be grilling him. Here’s a short blurb about each of the startups:
LiveKick – Remember Grouper, the hot P2P startup that was bought by Sony and became Crackle? Its co-founder and tech guru, Aviv Eyal (aka DJ Fuzzy Logic) is at it again, this time following his passion for music with LiveKick. LiveKick is a realtime search engine for concert tickets that can recommend the shows you shouldn’t miss by automatically scanning your digital music collection.
Give2Gether connects people around common causes, enabling them to spread the word and donate in large numbers to causes they care about. Donors make binding pledges conditional on the total raise hitting a goal by a certain time. If the goal is not met, everyone gets their money back. That way you know your money is really making a big impact. The solution employs patent-pending game-theoretic algorithms. Founder & CEO Arnon Safrir will share their inspiring story.
PopTok – What’s it like for an American CEO to take over an Israeli startup? Aaron Cohen will share his unique and entertaining perspective. Aaron recently took the helm of PopTok, a service that enables you to express yourself on social networks and IM by sharing scenes from your favorite movies. They’ve secured the rights to a huge catalog of movie clips and a CEO thats built and sold a few winners. You don’t want to miss this talk.
